Houston I'm on my way!

As many of you know I am on my way to Houston for the International Quilt Festival. Crazy Creek Creations studio will be closed Oct. 29th to Nov. 4th (unless of course the quilting fairies decide to go in and help me get those Christmas quilts done) .  I'm very excited to be taking two long arm classes with my hero Linda Taylor and another class where I will hopefully learn to put binding on by machine - so it looks good.

Unfortunately my friend Elizabeth who was going to be my roomy will not be with me as she is laid up with a fractured leg and can't make the trip - sooo sad! I know we would have had a great time together.

Anyone who is looking to drop Christmas quilts off  to be quilted, hang on to them and give me a call after the 3rd.

"Winter Wishes" by Jane

My friend Jane is crazy over snowmen (humm I wonder what that says about her?)  Jane had a birthday a while back and another friend Suzanne got this adorable kit as a birthday gift called "Winter Wishes"  Jane hasn't picked up this fun wall quilt yet and it's still on my design wall making me smile every time I look at it.  Sooo cute!

Cozy Flannel Quilt - made with love by Doris W

Doris made this great quilt as a gift for her son.  I know it took her a while to gather all the fabrics but it was well worth it - doesn't it look great. Doris also used a wonderful gray flannel for the backing that just added to the coziness.

I was up in the air about what design to quilt it with (masculine quilts are tough for me) and then one of the fabrics jumped out and spoke to me.  So freehand large stipple was on the agenda - Doris was pleased with it - phew!

Super Elegant Quilts - pieced by Nancy N

New customer Nancy brought these gorgeous quilts for me to quilt for her.  For a first time customer Nancy was so easy to deal with and just wanted her quilts to be finished and look good.  They are both gifts, one for her daughter and future son-in-law as a wedding quilt and the second for a dear friend.

Great work Nancy and so happy that you're pleased.  The quilting is freehand leaves/swirls on one and freehand double swirls on the other.

The fall colors are wonderful and Lori did an awesome job coordinating these wonderful fabrics.  The quilting is freehand leaves/swirls with freehand writing in a few chosen blocks.

Baby Quilt by Stephanie L

Stephanie a first time customer brought this cute baby quilt in for me to freehand quilt. The tiny stars in the fabric made me think freehand stars/swirls would be in order for the quilting.   A special gift for a friends baby - nice job Stephanie.

When Stephanie came to pick up her quilt she brought me a lovely lap quilt that she wanted to donate to "Victoria Quilts" - AWESOME!  Thanks Stephanie!  Once I get it quilted I will post a photo.

"Sakura Park" by Tanya D

I love this quilt and Tanya`s choice of colors and fabric.  It is such a girlie girl quilt and I loved quilting it.   When Tanya brought in this quilt she asked for daisies or hearts for the quilting design.  I incorporated both of these designs on this lovely soft, cheery quilt called "Sakura Park".

The quilting is freehand daisies and hearts.  Hobbs 80-20 batting and a lovely soft cotton variegated thread - Tutti by Wonderfil.

Great idea Doreen came up with.  Sew everything together, get it quilted and then cut each individual mat - bind and voila you're done. Keep up the good work Doreen - your friends will be tickled pink with these awesome Christmas gifts.
