Lucky little one for getting a quilt made by Susan L

Susan called this lovely little quilt "The Farm Quilt".   This great pineapple design using a colorful line of awesome kids prints is actually a reversible quilt.  As usual Susan put the time and her creativity into not only doing a great job piecing the front but a wonderful job on the reverse side as well.

Susan made this quilt as a gift which was handed over Sunday at a baby shower.  Thanks for letting me know that the quilt was a big hit Susan - NO SURPRISE - it's adorable.

Urban Nine Patch - pieced by Lisa K

I've been waiting patiently to share the photos of this beautiful quilt. Lisa who did the piecing and who's quilt it is was away on a family vacation - in Hawaii.    I love the unique design - wow doesn't it really look complicated?   Lisa mentioned it was made using the "Quick Cut Ruler" by Sew Kind of Wonderful and the pattern name is "Urban Nine Patch".

Freehand quilting in the body of the quilt and light custom fern pattern quilting in the borders to add interest to them.

King of the Jungle by Jackie

I must admit I was a bit nervous when Jackie's sister, my dear friend Jane dropped this beautiful wall quilt off in the studio.  Jackie was struggling and just needed/wanted it finished.  I pondered for a few minutes, got over the intimidation of the applique, refused the pieces and jumped right in.  I must admit it was a lot of fun and I love the way it turned out - sure hope Jackie does.

Freehand stitching on the lion, a bit of ruler work and freehand ferns in the border.  I used one color polyester thread.

Destined for "Harambee 2014"

My girlfriend Doris made this wonderful quilt as a fund raiser for "Harumbee 2014" which will be held in Naramata, BC this summer. I don't know much about this organization so have included a link for your interest.  I do however know the Doris has two beautiful grandson's who have African heritage, hence the connection.  I also wanted to mention that my girlfriend Lynn who passed away in 2009 collected African print fabrics and a number of the prints in this quilt were passed on to Doris by Lynn's sister Heather - Lynn would be so proud.

Doris did such an awesome job compiling all these fabrics and the black just frames them beautifully. and isn't the backing fabric just perfect - great job Doris.

"Star Surround" - Quilt Along - pieced by Susan

Another beautiful quilt by Susan.  Susan mentioned this was a quilt along and the fabric used was a fat quarter bundle (maybe more than one).  Whenever I hear about and see these projects made from fat quarters, precuts, etc. I am tempted to go out and buy buy buy.  There are so many gorgeous bundles, layer cakes, jelly rolls and whatever else they call them.  The person who thought up this idea of precuts was right on the ball.

The quilting is a freehand soft floral design and the thread used was a cream colored poly - Master  Quilter by Wonderfil .

"A Star is Born" by Susan L

What a lovely name for a quilt that will go to a brand new baby.  As usual Susan did such a wonderful job piecing this quilt top and it's so much fun seeing what new pattern she'll bring me next. Susan also added some piecing to the backing, making what would be a fairly plain backing into something a bit more special - love it!

Gorgeous Batiks put together by Nicky

First time customer Nicky brought this beautiful batik quilt she made for her son.  Although after seeing it she wasn't sure she was ready to let go of it just yet.  Great choice of fabrics Nicky and lovely job putting them together. Looking at it reminds me of jewels floating in the ocean - soooo soothing.

I continue to say - "There's something about a purple quilt" - Love it!

Nancy N made this lovely quilt for a very lucky mother-in-law - her daughter's I think.  I really like all the different purple and mauve tones in this square in a square quilt. Also the great border fabric Nancy chose - so much fun.   Great job Nancy and what an awesome gift.

Lucky Little Kidlets

Carmen made this wonderful quilts for her 3 children.  I can't imagine where she found the time to do the piecing on these as her kids are still fairly small and I would imagine in need of all Mom's attention.  Beautiful work Carmen and I know the children will cherish these forever.

There was one more quilt "Very Hungry Caterpillar" - sorry Carmen I must have neglected to get a photo of it - I can't believe I did that.  Watch for these cute cute quilts everyone at Heritage Park - May 24 and 25th.

Modern Double Z Design - By Tammy M

This lovely quilt was made by Tammy in High River. So nice to see that after everything Tammy and family have gone through last summer she is still so positive and quilting strong.  Such an inspiration.

This quilt is a Double Z design and Tammy used the brights and an adorable border fabric to set this off as a modern style quilt.  Watch for it as it will be hanging somewhere at the Heritage Park quilt show May 24th and 25th.  "Be there or be square"!
