Harambee #1 Quilt by Doris

Each year my friend Doris makes a wonderful quilt to be auctioned off for a special cause - Harambee.  This year Doris made two quilts - stay tuned for Harambee Quilt #2 coming soon.   Doris did a great job coordinating these wonderful bright and cheery colors with the center panel she used.  I especially love her use of color and fabrics in the borders - how unique.

I knew right away when I saw this quilt how I wanted to quilt it and really was looking forward to using a bright thread to compliment the gorgeous colors in the fabric.

The quilting is light custom with a great variegated thread by Wonderfil.

2nd Disappearing Four Patch by Joan

This is another disappearing four patch Joan dropped off for me to quilt, but more of a scrappy nature.  Great job on the inner borders and love the blue swirly fabric you used on the final border Joan - nice job!

Freehand edge to edge quilting - swirl design. Hobbs 80/20 batting and a great multi colored thread - Silco by Wonderfil.

Disappearing 4 Patch - by Joan

Joan did a great job choosing the fabrics, colors and pattern for this lovely quilt. I really like the color choices as well as the soft and cozy black minky for the back.

Modern Baby Quilt by Susan L

Isn't this the cutest baby quilt.  I love the modern feel and the colors and fabrics are soooo very cool.  Susan always does an amazing job piecing her quilts and her color combinations are always very "on trend"!

Wedding Quilt by Cari H

Cari H made this wonderful quilt for her son and future daughter-in-law who will be getting married this summer.  Both are very musical so Cari knew exactly what fabrics this quilt had to have in it.  It turned out awesome Cari - they will be so surprised and happy happy happy!

Freehand edge to edge swirl design quilting, Hobbs 80/20 batting and a cream cotton thread (Konfetti) by Wonderfil.  Cari also used a beautiful sculptured soft minky on the back to make it extra cozy.

2 Beautiful Quilts made by Julie

Julie made these two beautiful quilts.  As most of us  quilters Julie made these for some very special people.  The heart quilt she mentioned was for a person she considers an angel in her life.  The second is for a wedding gift.  Both awesome quilts and as usual Julie did an amazing job.

Freehand quilting on both.  The heart quilt design I used was a combination of hearts and swirls and the cross quilt has my very favorite (for now) feather swirls.

Beautiful Hand Embroidered Quilt by Marg R (Full custom quilting)

So many beautiful quilts coming into the studio and without a doubt this is no exception.  Marg hand embroidered this wonderful quilt (pattern by Meg Hawkey), picked it up yesterday and was pleased with how I finished it off for her.   I think I've mentioned before, I'm always a bit nervous when a first time customer gives me free reign on their artwork and I almost hold my breath when they come to pick it up.   The ladies from "Out of Hand" ( a unique local quilt store here in Calgary) - are definitely keeping me busy with their amazing creations.

Full custom hand guided quilting.

Bargello Wall Quilt - Made by Sheila F

Didn't Sheila do a great job piecing this beautiful batik bargello wall quilt.  She has a spot in her home designated for it already.  Great work Sheila.

Freehand edge to edge quilting using a leaf/swirly design. I love how it turned out!

Jo Ann's bright and cheery quilt!

I'm not sure where Jo Ann found time to get any quilting done as I know she was helping her daughter while she struggled through a bit of a difficult second pregnancy.  Happy to say Jo Anne became a grandma for the second time a few weeks ago and everyone is going well.

Freehand edge to edge quilting (funky floral design) on this lovely bright spring feeling quilt.
