10th Charity Quilt - by 3 friends.
Each year my friends Liz, Betty and I make a quilt and donate it to a charity. In the past it has usually gone to the Salvation Army Adopt a Family but in the last few years things changed and we have chosen to donate our quilts to other places. Last year Brenda's House (home for families in need) was the recipiant. This year our quilt went to Blackfalds Alberta where my daughter Tracy and her family chose an Adopt a Family in their area. 2013 was the 10th year the three of us have made a quilt. We take turns choosing a pattern, divide it in 3 and then get together in Oct or Nov to sew it all together.
2013 was my year to choose the pattern or design and I picked "Sister's Choice" from Bonnie Hunter's website.

Julie K has been such a busy lady!
Julie K made her sister, her daughter and her son wonderful quilts for Christmas. How, I'm not sure as Julie also works full time outside the home. This is the quilt she made for her son. All flannel and a perfect design and size for a young man. Nice job Julie - have a wonderful Christmas.
Julie likes my freehand allover large stipple and this is what she chose for her son's quilt.

Victoria Quilt donation by Sephanie L
A first time customer (Stephanie L) contacted me in October and asked if I could get the quilting done on a small quilt she had started a while back. When she was dropping her quilt off we started chatting about Victoria Quilts and the wonderful work they do.
Stephanie came to pick up her finished quilt a bit latter and handed me a lovely top she had made - I can't remember now if she didn't like the pieced top or just felt she wanted to donate something to such a worthy cause. The top was just a bit small so I found some coordinating fabric in my stash and added a bit of a border, quilted it with a freehand allover daisy pattern and finished it off with a bias binding.
Stephanie thank you, thank you, thank you for your donation - I hope you are happy with the finished quilt. You can be rest assured someone battling cancer will receive this lovely quilt and I'm sure it will put a smile on their face.

Beauitful gift for Catherine's Niece in Ontario
I really do think quilter's are the most generous people on earth. Catherine made this awesome quilt for her niece in Ontario. She mentioned her niece is a struggling student and Catherine wanted to urge her on and reward her for her hard work with this special gift made just for her. The best part is Catherine will be delivering this quilt in person for Christmas. Make sure you take pictures of her and the quilt Catherine.
Freehand quilting picking up from the floral motifs in the fabric and throwing in the odd heart for good measure. Tutti 100% cotton thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting. Catherine used a soft cozy flannel for the backing.

Another Awesome Christmas Gift - by Julie K
Julie K made this wonderful quilt for her daughter attending university in the states. Now I have to say - Julie is a fairly new quilter and speaking from experience these t-shirt quilts are not the easiest quilts to put together. Well let me tell you - Julie aced the construction (perfectly square and straight) and I'm in awe of the great job she did. Although after saying that and over the last while getting to know Julie a bit more I can't say I'm really surprised.
Julie is my only customer that asks for stipple quilting and is always so appreciative whenever she receives her finished quilts. Julie also used black minkie on the back making this such a warm and cozy quilt.

Jubilee Etchings by Maxine
Maxine gives me her quilts and always say's - "ok do your magic". Of course the quilter always wants to choose a design that will compliment the quilt - hmm - harder than you may think at times.
This lovely quilt had so much blank space that I tapped into my fill designs and used a combination of many. The quilting is full custom work using a black poly thread, Hobbs 80/20 batting and many many hours. Some of you may see this quilt again - keep a watch out for it.
