O'Tannenbaum Quilt by Kerry

This lovely Christmas quilt is just another of the many that have come into the studio for quilting recently.  Kerry adds applique to a number of her quilts making them so absolutely wonderful.  She will add decorations to the Christmas tree and hopefully get a picture for me after all the embellishing is done. I think Kerry mentioned this will be a gift for a friend - lucky friend!  Awesome job Kerry!

The quilting was an allover freehand holly leaves/swirl design, using a shiny gold thread by Madiera. The batting was a Hobbs blend giving this wall quilt a real nice definition and loft.

Kerry sent the photos below after the binding was put on and the Christmas tree decorated - thanks Kerry - wonderful quilt!

"Women of Influence" Block of the Month by Lisa

This is a beautiful quilt made by new customer Lisa. Lisa mentioned that this was not her favorite quilt, but she had to persevere as she was teaching this block of the month (Women of Influence) at a local quilt shop here in Calgary. I think it's gorgeous and she did an awesome job.

The quilting was a freehand leaf design with custom quilting in 5 appliqued blocks.

Tumbler Baby Quilt by Karen

This adorable baby quilt was made by Karen as a gift.  The pattern is called "Tumbler" and Karen did an awesome job coordinating all these wonderful soft fabrics. Karen used a blue solid flannel for the backing making this quilt "oh sooo cozy".  Nice job Karen - keep up the good work!

The quilting is a freehand bubble design and thread was a white 100% cotton by Wonderfil and the batting was Hobbs 80/20.

Fun Novelty Quilt by Sheila

Sheila is a friend, guild member and customer who abolutely loves to quilt. I can't image how many quilts Sheils makes in a year but I also know that a great number of them go to many charities across the city.   This is a fun quilt she made using awesome novelty fabrics and wonderful coordinating fabrics.   Not sure who this one is for but I'm postive they will enjoy having it as much as I enjoyed quilting it.  Isn't the back awesome as well!

A freehand allover design I call spikey swirls, using a wonderful orange varieagated thread - Tutti by Wonderfil.

Tammy's Hedgehog Quilt

My dear friend and customer Tammy was commissioned by a lady to make a quilt with Hedgehogs on it. Tammy was very please that because she had made a number of "I Spy" quilts, she had enough of this adorable fabric to complete this request.  I'm not sure but I wouldn't think there is an abundance of hedgehog fabric out there and think the quilting angels were looking over Tammy.

Tammy is an awesome quilter and it's always a pleasure finishing up her quilts for her.  She asked for an allover freehand leaf design using a lovely brown variegated thread (Mirage) by Wonderfil.

Pineapple Party - Scrappy Quilt

As many of you know I am in my glory when I'm playing with my scraps.  These days it takes me a fairly long time to complete anything I'm working on for myself.  This scrappy pineapple quilt is no exception and was started the beginning of 2011 if I remember correctly.  The pineapple border was an afterthought and because I'm never really in a hurry to finish my projects I love to add a little spice with pieced borders.

"Pineapple Party" has been hanging in my quilting queue for quite a while now, until last week when I decided it was time to get it on the frame and quilted.  Plus I wanted to have something for Show and Tell at our next guild meeting.

The quilting is an allover freehand funky heart design (thanks to Bethanne for the inspiration), using a lovely varigated thread by Wonderfil and Hobbs 80/20 batting.  The first photo was taken at Show and Tell on Saturday.  Yehhh! I finally had something to show.  Nothing spectacular but a lot of fun to make and maybe a tiny dent in my scrap bin.

Carpenter Star by Max - Full Traditional Custom Quilting

This is a beautiful Carpenter's Star my friend Max pieced.  The lovely white space is a quilters dream and just cried out custom quilting.  Max had the original pattern photo showing an awesome aray of feathers.  Feathers are the reason I started longarm quilting so I was happy with the request.  Although the photo showed stipple type meandering in the white spaces I just knew I wanted to do more.

The feathers are all freeehand and the wreaths and white square blocks are curved cross hatching using Rhonda Beyer's rulers.  The batting is Hobbs 80/20 and the thread is Invisifil by Wonderfil.
