Triple Irish Chain by Elizabeth - Rustic Flowery Quilting Design

This quilt was pieced by long time customer and friend Elizabeth P.  I think this may be the third Irish Chain I've done for Elizabeth so coming up with something different was a bit of a challenge. I do know gardening is a great passion of hers second only to her grandchildren and her four legged furry companions.  Knowing this I really thought she would appreciate the flowery feel of this design I chose for her quilt - hope so.

The quilting is hand guided full custom with a lot of ruler work.  Polyester thread and wool batting was used for definition of the design.

Stephanie piecing for Victoria Quilts

This is another example of the lovely quilts that are being made for a wonderful organization - Victoria Quilts.  We make quilts for people facing the challenge of dealing with cancer.  These quilts are just perfect for taking to treatment or just cuddling under.

Stephanie, a lovely young quilter who has come through the studio was pleased to take a few kits home and put them together for this great cause.  Thank you Stephanie - you are amazing.

If you like Stephanie would like to piece a quilt top for Victoria Quilts - yes, you just have to do the piecing, we'll look after the rest.  Unless you're a long arm quilter or like to quilt on your domestic machine and would like to get involved in the quilting of these tops, we definitely can use your help .

I have kits available here at the studio and you're welcome to pop in and pick them up - just please call first.

Bertie's Winter - Wool Applique from "Out of Hand"

Isn't this the cutest wall quilt ever? The pattern is called "Bertie's Winter" by Bonnie Sullivan.

Anyone thinking of taking up wool applique or have room for another project must get these kits (4 in all).  Dierde from"Out of Hand", a very unique quilt/needle craft store here in Calgary made this sweet wall quilt as a sample for a block of the month she held a while back.  Dierdre did mention that she still has a few kits left which include the hand dyed wool, all the buttons, pattern and the fabric for the borders - at a great price.  www.out-of-hand.com

The quilting is custom, stitching around the applique and then adding some texture in each individual block and borders.  Because of the thread match you can't see much of the design - hopefully some of the texture.  I can't say enough about how adorable this piece is and the workmanship is impeccable.

Jennifer's First Quilt - Wonderful

Jennifer with a bit of help from her friend Julie made this awesome T-Shirt quilt as a gift for her daughter.  Jennifer used a soft minkie for the backing - black (the photo shows grey but it really is black).  Can you believe this was Jennifer's very first quilt.  Great job, you're a natural!

Freehand double swirl quilting, Mirage variegated thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting was used.

Christmas Table Topper by Susan

Susan decided she wanted a new topper for her Christmas table this year.  Having an abundance of Christmas fabrics in her stash, a scrappy quilt was in order. Susan almost always chooses the most fun backings for her quilts and this one is perfect.

Freehand snowflake, holy leaves, etc. quilting.  Susan chose a taupe colored polyester thread that added to the elegance of this beauty.

Shelly spending time with the Grinch again

I think these may be the 3rd and 4th Grinch quilts Shelly has made for her family.  I was hoping to make one thisyear but it will not happen, but I sure think they're sooooo cute.

Great job Shelly!  Freehand Christmas quilting design on both using a red Tutti variegated thread on one and a green variegated thread on the second.and Hobbs 80/20 batting.  Shelly made them extra cozy by using minkie for the backs of both.
