Julie's Quilt for the Cabin

Julie did a great job piecing this lovely quilt that is heading for their cabin in Montana.  I'm not sure but the fabric definitely looks like it may be Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  We all know that working will stripes can at times be a bit of a challenge, didn't Julie do a spot on job?

Freehand quilting - swirl design, 100% variegated cotton thread - Tutti by Wonderfil and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Glenda's Custom Quilt

Glenda lives in Nelson BC and delivered this quilt for me to custom quilt for her.  As most of you already know custom quilting is definitely my passion and I love sewing out feathers and ruler work is also another favorite of mine.  There was a lot of blank space in this quilt to fill and I was in my glory.

Full custom quilting using a polyester thread and a double batting (Glenda supplied the batting so am not quite sure which ones they were).  The double batting is really the way to go for custom quilting as the design definition is so much more pronounced.

English Pieced Lovely by Darlene B

I have quilted a few quilts for Darlene B, but like a few other of my customers, I have never met her.  Darlene's daughter Kerry brings her quilts in and picks them up. Darlene lives in Worsley, Alberta just north of Grand Prairie and comes down south to visit her daughter and family a couple of times a year.  Kerry is also a quilter and I've done a number of her amazing creations - hence the connection.

This latest arrival is a gorgeous english pieced/appliqued quilt which we chose freehand quilting for - leaf and feather swirl design. I used a variegated rayon thread by Wonderfil to compliment the red and white fabrics used in the quilt. Kerry liked it, sure hope Darlene does.

Lovely modern feel baby quilt by Julie

I'm not sure who Julie said this baby quilt is for but I am sure they will "love love love it". Julie used very cool non traditional colors giving this beauty a very modern feel. As well she used a soft and cozy minkie for the back.

Freehand quilting - funky heart design, 100% variegated thread - Tutti by Wonderfil.

Monet's Wedding Ring by Claire

Love this wonderful very modern looking but yet traditional pattern called "Monet's Wedding Ring" pieced by a lovely customer Claire.  Every time Claire pops in she puts a smile on my face for the whole day - this lady knows what life is all about and seems to live it to the fullest.

The quilting is freehand assorted florals, a 100% cotton thread - Tutti by Wonderfil and Hobbs 80/20 batting.  This, I think is a great example of how freehand quilting can still make a quilt look awesome without breaking the bank.  Claire was very pleased with the finished quilt.

Wedding Quilt by Gayle G

Gayle G made this beautiful wedding quilt for a friends wedding coming up in October.  I think Gayle called this pattern "Share & Share Alike" but I wasn't able to find anything online about it.  I really think this is a wonderful gender neutral pattern design and will definitely keep it in mind when needing one.

Freehand leafy swirl quilting, Mirage variegated thread by Wonderfil and Hobbs 80/20 batting. I am always pleased when the backing is solid and shows off the quilting, in particular when using a lovely shiny variegated thread.

Lovely Dragonfly Quilt by Nancy P

The perfect pattern, awesome fabric and great execution make for a beautiful quilt.  Nancy also chose a soft and cozy minky for the backing - sooooo soft.

Freehand quilting with a butterfly swirl type design was what we chose for this quilt. I used a gold polyester thread to enhance the metalics in the fabric.

Fall Colors - Stash Box by Nancy P

Anyone knowing me knows I love fall colors and this quilt is definitely reminding us that fall is in the air.  Nancy P did a great job coordinating all these beautiful batik fabrics.  I think she called the pattern Stash Box.

Freehand quilting - feather swirls/leaves using a gorgeous variegated thread Tutti by Wonderfil and Nancy provided a lovely cotton wool blend batting for this beauty.  Nancy also nailed the backing, it is absolutely perfect - great job!

Lovely Floral by Jo Ann

What a wonderful color combination.  Jo Ann mentioned that while making this quilt she wasn't overjoyed with it and that it sat on her design way for quite a while.  One day her daughter walked in and absolutely loved it, encouraging Jo Ann to bring it in to be quilted.  I love it and  always say that just because we're not fond of a particular quilt - someone will absolutely love love love it.

Freehand feather swirl design with an odd leaf thrown in.  100% variegated cotton thread, Tutti by Wonderfil.  I really like the red thread on the yellow fabric, especially on the yellow backing.

For sweet Olivia - Congratulations to Amy and her husband

When Amy dropped off this quilt top I wasn't able to meet sweet Olivia yet.  When Amy picked up this adorable quilt I was introduced to Miss Olivia, although I must say she slept through our first visit.  Congratulations to Amy and her husband on the arrival of a brand new beautiful baby girl.  For her arrival mom made her this fun modern style quilt - sooo sweet.

Freehand soft swirls, 100% cotton thread - Tutti by Wonderfil and a 100% cotton batting.

Grandson Dylan's quilt

I am very slow at getting quilts made for my family but better slow than never.  This one is for Dylan who just turned 8 years old in May.  I just finished it and gave it to him this past weekend at Calaway Park.
