Perfect for Mother's Day - Glenna's Quilt for Her Mom
This lovely quilt is a customer quilt made for Glenna's mother. Mom chose the fabrics and Glenna put them all together - how wonderful! When I saw this quilt it made me think of my Mom who passed away in 2006. Mom would have lovely this quilt, as she love love loved flowers of all sorts.
Glenna asked for the center to be outlined and a stipple design to surround the floral vase, the rest of the quilt was freehand leaf/swirl meandering. I used an extra layer of batting to define the vase making somewhat a trupunto look. Legacy 70/30 Eco batting was used, as well as a variegated thread - Mirage by Wonderfil.

Pineapple from Mexico
This quilt has a cute story to it. My friend Elizabeth received some fabric which her daughter brought back for her from a visit to Mexico a while back. I recall Elizabeth agonizing over this fabric and what to make from it, as it was very bright and not really her so called "cup of tea". Anyway, while picking up another quilt from my studio Elizabeth noticed a scrappy pineapple quilt I was working on and showed an interest. I lent her my book and this is the wonderful quilt she came up with. I think it's absolutely lovely and considering Elizabeth hasn't been quilting that long, she did a great great job piecing it.
This is an overall freehand design, using Hobbs 80/20 batting and a veriegated 100% cotton thread (Tutti) by Wonderfil.

Large Bali Blocks
I just finished quilting 2 of these lovely quilts - both exactly the same. A customer "Vange" received this gorgeous fabric from her daughter and neice who just came back from a trip to Bali. Vange did a great job compiling these beautiful fabrics into a wonderful quilt for each of the ladies.
These large quilts - 90" x 100", were quilted with an allover freehand design. Warm & Natural batting was used as well as 100% cotton thread "Tutti" by Wonderfil.

"Harvest Home" - Going a long way from home!
This gorgeous quilt once finished will be traveling a long way, to Teslin, Yukon.
Made by Brenda from High River for her friend Jay who lives up in the Yukon and whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting.
Brenda and Jay, while Jay was visiting both fell in love with this quilt. They each purchased the kit at the Quilting Bee shop in Olds, Alberta (one of Brenda's all time favorite hang outs). Jay knowing that Brenda was a more experienced quilter and seeing some of her previous projects commissioned her to compile this quilt for her. Both Jay and Brenda found my site and saw some of my quilting, contacted me and below are photos of the finished quilt. Brenda did an awesome job piecing this large 100" x 100" bed quilt and I was happy with the quilting results. I have no doubt Jay will be pleased.
Jay chose my freehand leaves for the quilting pattern - we used W/Natural batting and 100% cotton thread (Tutti) by Wonderfil.
