Brady's 1st Birthday Quilt

My dear friend and quilter Doris made this adorable quilt for her Grandson Brady who just turned 1 year old.  I love these soft fun flannel panels (how cute are those faces).  With a few borders, friend Max to do some embroidery, and a little quilting you have an awesome treasure for little Brady.

I did a bit of custom quilting on this just because it had a lot of open space and I wanted to spend more time with these fun animals. Doris was happy with the way it turned out and promised to get some photos of Brady and his special quilt Grandma Doris made.

Mary's Quilts

These are two of the quilts I just finished up for Mary.  Both were freehand using Legacy Eco batting and variegated thread by Wonderfil.

"Summer Porch" by Amy

Amy is a new customer and a young up and coming quilter.  If I remember correctly Amy started this lovely quilt before moving here to Calgary from High Level in the north of Alberta. With help from a local quilt store Amy began her quilt but had to put it away because of the major move to Calgary.  Once settled Amy brought out her "Summer Porch" quilt, finished the piecing and found me to help with the quilting of this beauty.

I did an allover freehand swirl, we used the new Legacy Eco batting and a variegated thread by Wonderfil.

Scrappy Log Cabin - Freehand Quilting

This bright and cheery quilt was made by customer and lovely friend "Rose".  Rose did a grand job piecing all these lovely scraps into another wonderful work of art. The black sashings really compliment and make her log cabin blocks pop.

I did an allover freehand soft swirl, used Legacy 70/30 Eco batting and a variegated thread by Wonderfil.

Tropical Breeze

This beautiful batik quilt was designed by Kat from "Next Step Quilt Designs" and will be coming out as a "block of the month". Because of the ocean theme I quilted Tropical Breeze using a pantograph called" Whirlpool" and a variegated thread by Wonderfil.

Another Customer Trunk Show

I have some wonderful customer quilts to share.  The first three are Susan's quilts. Susan gives me free reign for her quilting.   The first one is a double four patch and maybe because of the green color was reading botanical to me - so I did an allover freehand fern/swirl design.  Using variegated Mirage thread by Wonderfil.

This second quilt is call "Framed Nine Patch" .  Susan used some lovely ocean type fabric in the 9 patches so I thought freehand allover bubbles were in order. Variegated Mirage thread by Wonderfil was used.

This quaint little pastel quilt is so cute. Love Susan's fabric choices.  I did an allover freehand swirl with a funky flower thrown in here and there.  Again variegated Mirage thread by Wonderfil was used.  The second photo is the back of this pastel quilt. It's always so much fun to see what Susan has done for a back - it's a pleasant surprise and you can bet "perfectly pieced".

March has started out like a lion here in the studio!

I have been having fun with all these beautiful quilts my customers have brought me. This first one is a baby quilt a guild friend Arleene made for her daughters friend who had a baby girl. This quilt will be traveling to Australia after it shows at Heritage Park Quilt Festival.   I absolutely love this quilt and Arleene did a great job along with some of the ladies at "Along Came Quilting" choosing the fabric. I did an allover meander in the body of the quilt with Mctavishing in and around the wording.

This lovely quilt was made by a new customer Mary and was crying out for swirly leaf quilting - all freehand. We used the fairly new 70/30 Eco batting by Legacy and variegated Mirage thread by Wonderfil. Love the fabric she used on the back - fun!  Nice job Mary.

This is a quilt for a new project I have just gotten involved in. I have free reign on the quilting and wanted to try a freehand 3 petal cone type flower.  I think it turned out fairly good and it was fun to try something different. The batting was Hobbs and the variegated thread was 100% cotton Tutti by Wonderfil.
